Ice load
The Ice load tab allows for the specification of ice forces and thickness (see Figure 122).

The point of application of the ice force is at the normal reservoir operating level minus half the ice thickness. The ice load is given as a force per unit length. This length corresponds to the dimension in the cross-stream direction.
Note: This force is ignored if the reservoir level exceeds the maximum dam elevation plus the ice thickness.
The ice Compressive strength is used only to evaluate the dynamic impact load generated by a moving ice cover on the pier of a spillway. See Appendix A for more details.
