Post-tension cables
Structures can be anchored to the rock using post-tensioned cables. For a gravity dam, the cables are usually installed from the crest and anchored to the rock foundation at the upstream heel. The Post-tension Cables window and the associated Post-Tension Editor window allow the definition of as many anchoring systems as required (Figure 134 and Figure 135).

By default, the horizontal component of the post-tension force in the case of inclined anchors is considered an active load that reduces the shear force at the denominator of the sliding safety factor equation. It is also possible to consider the horizontal component of the post-tension force as a passive load, which is added to the shear resistance, found at the numerator of the equation related to sliding safety factor.
